Frontage Parcel Tax
The Water and Sewer Frontage levies are taxes charged to provide for the purpose of recovering all or part of the annual costs of constructing and operating water and sewer systems for the benefit of residents and businesses within the City of Salmon Arm. All properties that have water and/or sewer services available must provide for the capital cost to keep the systems operational. The capital infrastructure includes mains, lift stations, pumping stations, treatment plant, etc. Properties connected to the water and/or sewer systems also pay user fees to provide for operational costs.
Frontage taxes are calculated by multiplying the taxable foot frontage of the property where it abuts City services, by the annual frontage rates. This is subject to a minimum of 50 feet and a maximum of 300 feet. Current rates are $2.08 per foot for water and $1.98 per foot for sewer frontage.
