CONSTRUCTION NOTICE UPDATE

March 8, 2024 @ 11:00am
Ross Street Utility Work Paving
The City of Salmon Arm Contractor (D Webb Contracting Ltd) has completed the underground utility work on the sanitary and storm system. The upgrades to the underground pipes will improve the conveyance of sanitary and stormwater flows, reduce maintenance on the older system, and provide longevity to our critical infrastructure.

As a result of the progress of the work, and the use of night work for a period of construction, the Contractor has completed the work ahead of schedule, which will allow Ross Street between Lakeshore Road and Hudson Avenue to open to traffic at the end of the day Friday March 8. This will allow full vehicle circulation for weekend traffic and events.

The sidewalk on the west side of Ross will remain closed to allow the new concrete sidewalk/parking lot ramp to harden, and the portion of the parking lot will remain closed for safety. The temporary ramp will remain for access to the parking lot. On Monday March 11th (weather dependant) Ross Street, and the disturbed portion of the parking lot, will be closed to allow paving. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while this important project nears completion.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

Please be advised that starting on Thursday February 22, 2024, the Contractor for the construction project will be performing exploratory works to locate existing utilities prior to construction. The work will involve traffic control at the intersection of Ross St and Hudson Ave, lasting for the day. Traffic movements will be permitted in all directions for the duration of the one-day work, under Traffic Control Persons direction.

Upon completion of the exploratory work, the Contractor intends to undertake FULL CLOSURE of the intersection of Ross and Hudson starting at 9:00 PM Saturday February 24, 2024, for installation of sanitary utility works. The work will be completed, before 9:00 AM Monday February 26, 2024, at which time the intersection will be reopened to traffic.

Beginning on Monday February 26, 2024, Ross St between Lakeshore and the south side of the parking lot access will be closed to vehicle traffic. During this time, the Contractor will be performing utility work on the sanitary and storm systems. The Contractor will be working during daytime hours to complete the work, with a portion of the work being undertaken at night. Night work will allow an accelerated completion schedule, minimizing the impact to downtown traffic. Provisions will be made to ensure continued access to the Ross Street Parking Lot and full access for pedestrians and  businesses during this time. The Ross Street closure is expected to last for two weeks.

During this construction period traffic disruptions can be expected, however, every effort will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum. Construction signs will be posted to assist with traffic flow. Please exercise caution and obey all signage placed for your safety.

We thank you in advance for your co-operation and understanding during this construction period.
