[ARCHIVED] Construction Notice - Downtown Paving Schedule

DT Paving

Over the last few weeks the City of Salmon Arm has completed utility work and all ancillary works required in advance of asphalt paving downtown. We recognize the short term disruption this has caused and thank you for your patience. We are now preparing for the final paving in the area.

Paving is scheduled to begin starting the week of May 13, and is expected to take approximately two weeks (dependant on weather). Please refer to the maps included with this notice for locations. Parking lines will be marked at the completion of paving for each section.

Beginning the week of May 13, milling & paving will occur on Hudson Avenue between Ross Street & 4 Street, the east end of Hudson St, and at the west end of Hudson St from Lakeshore Rd to Shuswap St.

The Ross Street Parking Lot paving will begin Tuesday following the long weekend (May 21), and will require a 4-day closure for paving and marking the parking spaces including installation of directional arrows to identify the one-way travel through the parking lot. The electric vehicle charging station will be enhanced by BC Hydro over the next few weeks, and pavement markings for the select two parking stalls will be included with the upgrade.

Ross Street from Hwy 1 to Lakeshore Drive will be the final paving section, which is scheduled for Sunday May 26 to minimize traffic impact at the intersections. On Ross St north of Hwy 1 to Hudson Ave, the parallel parking on the west side will be replaced with angle parking, adding additional parking spaces, and maintaining the existing loading zone. During the road paving process, temporary disruption to traffic and parking will occur. We appreciate your cooperation and will attempt to minimize disruption to downtown traffic and businesses while these important projects are underway.
