Property File Search Request

A Property File Search Request allows for the development community and the public to obtain information on a particular property. This type of request can also help to determine if there are any violations on the property that are known to the City, whether or not an occupancy permit has been issued, and what the current zoning is. The files pertaining to the property are researched by our building, planning and bylaw compliance departments.

Who can apply?

All information provided will be *routine release information only. As such, anyone can apply for this information.

*routine release means the disclosure of specified types of information as a matter of course without the necessity of a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Personal information will be redacted.

How much does it cost?

There is a $50.00 non-refundable application fee for each Property File Search request plus GST.

How long will it take?

We ask that you allow the City 7 (seven) business days (after receipt of the application and payment of the fee and dependent on volume) to complete the search and send you the results via email.

How can I apply?

Access the fillable pdf form. Email your completed form to propertysearch@salmonarm.ca and pay the application fee of $52.50 (including GST).

The following forms of payment are available for Accounts Receivable Accounts:

  • Personalized cheques or money orders made payable to the City of Salmon Arm:
    • Mail – PO Box 40, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4N2
    • City Hall Drop Box – located to the left of the main entrance
  • Online Banking
    • Login to your online banking
    • Payee - “Salmon Arm (City of) Property Taxes”
    • Account Number – Enter 99999999
    • When a payment is made to this account, an email with the following details must be sent to Finance@salmonarm.ca:
      • Your Name
      • Name on Bank Account (if different than name above)
      • Financial Institution Used for Payment
      • Payment Amount
      • Invoice Number(s)
      • Any directions as applicable (i.e. please email a copy of the receipt, etc.)

**Important Note - Any payments received, where an email has not been received, will be rejected and sent back to the payor.

Credit Card

The City of Salmon Arm does NOT accept credit card payments. However, you may be able to use a third-party payment service provider who offers a credit card payment service. 

Important Notes Regarding Third-Party Payment Service Providers:

  • Third-party payment service providers charge a percentage fee for their services.
  • You must create an account with the third-party payment service provider and agree to their terms and conditions to use the service—make sure you clearly understand them before using the service.
  • The transaction is not instantaneous. The transfer will typically take place within three business days, but there may be additional delays. You are responsible for ensuring that the City receives your payment by the due date; otherwise, a penalty will be incurred.
  • Additional fees may be incurred by your credit card provider for using this service. Please contact your credit card provider if you have any questions or concerns before using any third party payment provider.
