As boating season is upon us, we wanted to remind people who are on the lake using Kayaks Canoes, Paddleboards and other small water crafts to be safe and visible while on Shuswap Lake.
The smaller water crafts are not always capable of moving quickly and also sit low to the water, you may be difficult to be seen by other motorized boats. Always keep an eye out for motorized boats and be realistic about how long it could take to cross open water where faster boats could be traveling. If in doubt, always paddle along the shoreline. Most importantly, WEAR YOUR PERSONAL FLOATATION DEVICE (PFD).
Also a reminder of the Clean Drain Dry program which helps reduce the spread of invasive plants and organisms to BC Waters. More information here.
